What is Indy?
Indy is an AI-powered companion assistant designed to help you manage daily life. Indy is not a human — it is an artificial intelligence system. Indy will always identify itself as AI and will never pretend to be a person.
How Indy Works
Indy processes your conversations using large language models to understand what you need and generate helpful responses. When Indy suggests an action (like setting a reminder or saving a note), a separate deterministic system reviews and executes that action according to strict safety rules. Indy proposes; the system disposes.
What Indy Can Do
Indy can help with reminders and scheduling, remembering important information you share, daily check-ins to see how you’re doing, managing contacts and information, and connecting you with family members in your care circle.
What Indy Cannot Do
Indy never diagnoses medical conditions or provides medical advice. Indy never replaces emergency services — if you need help, call 911 or your local emergency number. Indy never assesses mental or physical capacity. Indy never claims certainty it does not have. Indy never makes decisions about your care or welfare.
Your Information
Conversations with Indy are processed to generate responses and then discarded. Memories and notes are stored only when you ask Indy to remember something, and you can view, edit, or delete them at any time. You control what Indy remembers.
How Decisions Are Made
Every action Indy takes is logged in an auditable ledger. You can see what Indy did, when, and why. If Indy sets a reminder, saves a note, or shares information with a family member, there is a clear record. Nothing happens silently.
Reporting Issues
If Indy behaves unexpectedly or you have concerns about its responses, please contact us at safety@eldercompanion.ai. We review all reports and use them to improve Indy’s safety and reliability.
